Takahē have one of the most remarkable survival stories of any bird. Once thought extinct and now back from the brink they have made a remarkable comeback thanks to support from conservationists. Have you ever wondered how well would you survive as a takahē?  

Join the Orokonui Education Team for this two-hour guided school holiday session full of takahē fun.  

• Visit our takahē and learn about the work Orokonui, Mana Whenua, DOC, and others do to keep them safe and contribute to the growing wild populations.  

• Try your luck as a takahē surviving in an alpine valley with the Takahē Trials survival game.  

• Create your own colourful takahē mask to take home. 

• Enjoy full-day sanctuary entry to continue exploring after the session.  

This workshop is free with paid sanctuary entry, but bookings are essential as spaces are limited.   

Children must be accompanied by at least one adult with a minimum of one adult per three children.
