Events & Functions
We have a variety of spaces to add the wow factor to your next event or function. With incredible views and nature within reach.
We invite you to join us at Orokonui Ecosanctuary and experience nature’s bounty whilst holding your event. Only 20 minutes from Dunedin, our award winning Visitor Centre with modern facilities has hosted many weddings, strategic planning sessions, corporate retreats, live performances, book launches and family celebrations.
Orokonui is like no other, nestled on the crest of Blueskin Road with stunning views over native forest, Blueskin Bay and the glorious Silver Peaks. Our award winning wing-shaped building with its soaring glass atrium is picture perfect for that special day or corporate function. Corporate planning sessions have benefited from incorporating team building walks and experiences in the forest.
Orokonui Ecosanctuary is the perfect place for your next seminar, meeting, conference or special event (including weddings, birthdays, screenings and launches). We have a purpose-built meeting room, magnificent atrium, and an easy access landscaped garden with stunning views.
We can arrange Ecosanctuary specialists to talk about their areas of expertise or short tours into the Ecosanctuary itself, should you wish to incorporate these into your event.
Visitor Facilities
Our facilities include
- Parking – car, bus, disabled and campervans
- Guide dogs are welcome
- Disability access – wheelchair access to all areas of the Visitor Centre, surrounding gardens and the first 400m of walking track. A wheelchair & stroller are available
A visit to Orokonui Ecosanctuary proved to be the highlight of the day for one of our disability groups visiting Dunedin on a shore excursion. The group of 12 from Australia included a wheelchair traveller and others with limited mobility. The facilities at the visitor centre provide excellent accessibility for disabled travellers, the wheelchair access track enabled the group to enjoy the iconic New Zealand flora and fauna found within the Sanctuary and our Sanctuary guide made the visit a thoroughly enjoyable multi sensory experience for all. Many thanks – we’ll definitely be back!
