Be a Volunteer!

Orokonui was founded by passionate volunteers and even now the Ecosanctuary benefits from around 13,000 hours annually from over 100 active individuals. We have multiple teams working in different areas both inside and outside of the boundary fence. Do you want to contribute to the Orokonui story?

Thank you for considering volunteering at Orokonui. Volunteering Opportunities include (but are not limited to):

Track maintenance
Weed control

Education

Our education team works with thousands of kids from Ōtepoti/Dunedin and beyond. Do you want to help educate the next generation of conservation heroes.

Visitor centre support

Helping with events, supporting the cafe or welcoming people. Helping the visitor centre run helps us raise the money we need to continue our vital conservation work.

At the moment Orokonui is only recruiting a limited number of volunteers. Please sign up to Birdcall, our newsletter, so you can be first to hear when volunteering opportunities become available.
